I just wanted to pose a question for all my fellow bloggers!
What do you do about all that SPAM?! I mean seriously it’s getting out of hand.
I’ve installed a Plugin, but I still have to go through the majority of the SPAM and comments being very careful not to erase comments from “real” people.
If you’ve ever made a comments and it was not approved, I might have accidentally erased it on one of my select all and trash rampages! :/
Most times I log on to my dashboard dreading the amount of SPAM, I’ll be greeted by.
I want comments to be posted as soon as there made, without moderator approval. If you have any good spam checker comment plugins please let me know. It would be greatly appreciated :)
Not only do I love the taste of sweet potato, the amount of nutritional benefits you can get from sweet potatoes are simple astounding. I have switched out the white potatoes in many recipes and now use a sweet potato in its place.
Sweet potatoes work well in almost any dish, it adds subtle sweet & earthy notes while providing valuable nutrition! How can you say no to that?
There is a difference between a yam and a sweet potato but I use the word interchangeable. Yams have more health benefits than sweet potatoes but they are more difficult to find. If you do find them however try the red yam which is so yum. I buy organic which have to be used more promptly than a non organic potato, because they will go bad faster.
Check out of some of my other sweet potato recipes like this apple upside down sweet potato cake, and these egg free flax-seed sweet potato muffins, or you can just keep it traditional and try these candied yams, or the stove top sauteed version. You can also try this healthy version of candied yams which has nuts and apples to boot!

Cut potatoes into thin slices, using whatever kitchen tools suit your fancy. Since I’m not trained in the art of knives and prefer to keep all my fingers, I use my safety slicer.
After slicing, cover them in water and let sit for 30 minutes
Lay out paper towels and dry off the potatoes. Pre-heat oil to 375ᴼ
Carefully place dried potatoes in oil and fry for about 5 minutes, move them around a bit half way through at the 3 minute mark.
When finished I place on a cooling rack with paper towels underneath. Sprinkle with some salt, cayenne pepper, maybe some garlic powder, whatever you like. If you’re feeling naughty top with some chives, shredded cheese, plus bacon then dip in sour cream, Yum!
]]>16 oz elbow macaroni
4 Slices of thick cut smoked bacon
½ chopped vadalia onion
1 small green pepper chopped
3 Tablespoons Butter
3 garlic cloves pressed
8 oz sharp cheddar cheese
4 oz shredded Gruyere
1 cup parmesan cheese
2 cups milk
2 cups heavy whipping cream
Cayenne Pepper
Salt
Now just……
Cook pasta to al-dente. Chop bacon slices into small bits and cook until fat is rendered and bacon is crispy, add your chopped onion and pepper, let them sweat out and get tender
Next add pressed garlic and let that cook and get mixed in with the other onions and peppers.
Now add butter and when it is done melting.
Add heavy cream and milk. Let that warm up while constantly mixing, now add your cheese (leave a little to the side to top the macaroni before popping it in oven) slowly mix your cheese in until it’s melted.
In small bowl whisk together the sour cream and egg yolks, add to cheese mix, and stir in. Salt to taste and instead of black pepper we’re using cayenne pepper, a good rounded teaspoon.
Pour elbow pasta in baking dish and pour cheese over top mix everything in well top with remaining shredded cheese and bake in oven for about 30 minutes or until cheesy top starts to brown.
