I just wanted to pose a question for all my fellow bloggers!
What do you do about all that SPAM?! I mean seriously it’s getting out of hand.
I’ve installed a Plugin, but I still have to go through the majority of the SPAM and comments being very careful not to erase comments from “real” people.
If you’ve ever made a comments and it was not approved, I might have accidentally erased it on one of my select all and trash rampages! :/
Most times I log on to my dashboard dreading the amount of SPAM, I’ll be greeted by.
I want comments to be posted as soon as there made, without moderator approval. If you have any good spam checker comment plugins please let me know. It would be greatly appreciated
Akismet!!! it’s a really great spam Plug-in, so give it a try!! trust me, we all feel your pain girrrl

I’m going to go check them out PRONTO, thank you Christine!
I second Akismet. The difference is like night and day. Before I installed it I was angry everytime I opened my comments tab.

It’s very frustrating.
Thank you MJ!
Spam is crazy! Thankfully, Blogger is really good at catching the spam comments. I think I’ve only had two get through to my regular comments, but I moderate my comments and just marked them as spam and kept it moving.

It’s driving me crazy for sure! I’m not familiar with the Blogger platform, but only 2?! That’s awesome! Thanks K!
I’m also on wordpress and it came with askimet. I just checked my spam folder and half the time I’m not sure if I’m seeing a real person or a very clever spambot. I think I’ve only tagged one as a real person and not spam. I hate that I don’t know…but at the same time, I don’t want to open the door to a potential spammer.

The struggle is very real over here in bloggers land, lol. I’ve installed Askimet but haven’t took the time yet to figure it all out! Thanks for commenting Tracey!
I love akismet too! If the majority of your spam comments seem to be on just a couple of your posts (I would say that about 80% of my spam comments are on 1 particular post) you can turn off commenting on just those posts. I haven’t taken the time to figure out how to do it, but have seen it recommended.

Oh wow that’s a great idea Christin! The majority of my spam does come from one particular post. I’m definitely going to do that tonight! Thank you!
Blogger was way better a catching spam. Thank you for asking that question. I am having the same problem. I think once I clear a real person they shouldn’t be back in there next time. It’s frustrating.

I’ve heard blogger is much better at this! Sorting through all the spam is time consuming. Lately I’ve been like “forget it”! Thanks for commenting girl!
All the suggestions above are really good. I have that, and I have the comment luv spam filter, but I’ve noticed that they have gotten really good trying to get through spam, regardless.

Hmmm, I have to check my settings on comment luv, I didn’t realize they could filter! Thanks for commenting Kalley!
Hi Christina,
I found you through She’s Got Flavor–I think a comment you left–so please don’t delete me, hehe
I’m relatively new to blogging, but what I do for spam is this:
First, I’ve just learned to Noindex the contact page. This is an option you can make on your contact page–usually towards the bottom. This prevents your contact page from being found by spammers in the search engine.
The second thing I do is download a good anti-spam plugin. Something like Askimet or Growmap Anti-Spam are good choices. Someone may know better than me but…do you have to pay for Askimet now?
Lastly, just wanted to say I’m happy to have found your blog.
Thank you very much Mason for your comment! I certainly would not delete all the good anti-SPAM advice! LOL I’m happy you’ve found me as well!
